Man, this project was special, and it is definitely one of my favorites. From the moment they picked their colors, tile designs, lighting etc. I KNEW it was going to be a beautiful, bright update and I couldn’t wait to see it all finished.
As recent empty nesters, these homeowners decided that downsizing from 2 homes in Washington to 1 home in Washington meant up sizing their Vacation Home, a home that held many memories for their family. In order to continue making memories with their kids and extended family, we needed to add sleeping space, more bathrooms and STORAGE. Plus, a facelift throughout from the outdated cottage look.
Our goal was to keep the cottage feel of the home while bringing in some FUN and color and I think we nailed it! In addition to new paint and flooring throughout we blew out the kitchen making it larger, which changed the veranda to two separate veranda spaces. Lots of pantry storage added, large island, ice maker and beverage fridge plus 2 new windows with a lake view!
Kitchen Before, During, & After
————————————————-
The laundry room moved to the hallway to create more space for the kitchen pantry and linen cabinets in the main floor bath.
Laundry/ Hallway Before & After
————————————————-
The old “master bedroom” was converted to a guest room with access to the main floor bath but, access to that bathroom from the hallway was also added- another reason why the laundry was moved the hallway.
Guest Room/ Main Bath Before & After
————————————————-
The old guest bedroom/bathroom was converted into a Master bed/bath by extending the entry out. And in the bathroom, the tub was removed to add a large STEAM 💨 shower and upgraded to a double vanity. In the bedroom, the closet was removed and built in cabinets were installed for some well thought out storage space.
New Master Bed/ Bath Before, During & After

The living room/upstairs had quite the change- the upstairs was blown out to make more space, so the owners said goodbye to the open vaulted ceiling– but with recessed lighting and lighter furniture, the living room still feels large. 🎉 The fireplace was also removed and replaced with a media wall and plenty of storage.
Living Room Before, During, & After
————————————————-
With the upstairs blow out- the vaulted ceiling became the new large bunk room with custom built in bunks 🔨 for plenty of sleeping space, and of course- because it is important- a storage closet was added! A flex space/guest room was added and a full size bath.
Upstairs Before, During, & After
This house is cohesive, modern, beachy and cozy. I am so happy with how it turned out and the clients are even happier.
As always, I loved working with Keith and his team at Ridgeline Construction as well as Jason from Mountain View Renovations for the flooring install, Loren at Loren Wahl Cabinetry and Jose Sr. and Jr. at J’s Custom Tile!
